Thought of the Day:
Today’s thought comes from part of ayah 2:187 of the Qur’an,
“…They are a garment for you, and you are a garment for them…”
That is the Qur’anic description of the relationship between men and women, which establishes a strong metaphor of mutual “protection”.
A garment shields you from adverse elements, a garment also beautifies you, and finally a garment covers you up your faults and flaws. The description of a garment also parallels ayah 7:26 of the Qur’an, “…the best garment is the garment of God-consciousness”.
The action for the day is to realise that the ralationship between men and women specified in Islam is one of mutual protection and a call to aspire towards mutual God-consciousness.
NOT one of subjugation or opression of women in any type or form.
